Cristalleries de Saint Louis is located in a
small town in the Alsace-Lorraine district of
France. Although operation of the factory never
ceased, paperweight production ended about 1860,
not to be revived until the middle of the 20th
century.
The St. Louis antique paperweight repertoire
is extensive. It includes many designs using
millefiori canes, many 'species' of garden of
flowers, a variety of backgrounds plus interesting
innovations such as the Crown paperweight and the
Marbrie. Although some of the designs were
similar to those from Baccarat, there are
differences in style and the color palette which
make it possible to differentiate the paperweights
even when designs were similar.
