Rick Ayotte was trained as a scientific glassworker, like many other modern paperweight artists such as Charles Kaziun II, Francis Whittemore, and Paul Stankard. Over 20 years ago, when Rick started to make paperweights, he combined his interest in ornithology with his technical skills. His early subjects were birds in natural settings and were a great success.
